So in case you missed it, which you most likely did, the MLS Cup was played last night between the LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo. The two best teams in the league played a tight scoreless game until, you guessed it, Landon "Big Game" Donovan netted the game winner and the Galaxy took home the 2011 title by a score of 1-0. The play was all started by a gorgeous pass from David Beckham, who finally paid the team back for all they invested in bringing him to the US.
Donovan has been the premier US player for the past 8 years, and he doesn't appear to be planning on relinquishing that title any time soon. Whether it's dominating the up and coming MLS or leading team USA into battle, the guy performs. Let's hope he can ride this big win into the 2012 Olympics and put the US National team on his back again.
